Events by industry Culture, education and arts In Spain there are more than 114,000 companies in the cultural sector, 20 % of them in Catalonia. The industry employs 544,700 people. Total expenditure of Spanish households on cultural goods and services was 14,099.7 million euros in 2016, an increase of 6.9 % over the previous year. The average expenditure per person was 306.7 euros. For the academic year 2017-2018, 8,138,170 students have enrolled in non-university centres. Art sales rose in 2016 to 385 million euros, which is still under 1 % of the world market. Highlights included the exhibition the 100 years of the TBO, with over 90% of the comics one hundred originals, as well as those devoted to the famous cowboy published annually Lucky Luke; to two legends of the American comic strips, Will eisner in Spain are made in Catalonia and Milton Caniff; and President donald Trump.
