FIRA DE BARCELONA
| 2013 REPORT
Contacts and technical support
In order to make things easier for potential
exhibitors, ServiFira offered a wide range of
modular stands adapted to the different features
and needs of each event, building a total of
35,000 m
2
and developing more than 250 design
projects. To illustrate the importance of this task,
suffice to say that ServiFira set up more than
51,000 m
2
of carpet, more than 22,500 metres
of truss, 9,640 rigging points for lighting, sound
or video structures, and provided more than
50,000 kW.
More technological facilities
A concern for providing an innovative service in the
technological field was present throughout 2013,
given that the needs of the events continued
growing. The expansion of laptops, mobile phones
and tablets, the development of applications
and the huge success of social networks do not
imply only a new way of communicating but also
a significant increase in the requirements of Wi-Fi
connectivity and the Internet, becoming one of the
main needs of event participants.
This year, at some events there were more
than 45,000 users connected to the network,
and almost 8,000 of them were connected
simultaneously. At the Mobile World Congress,
an average of almost 100,000 daily tweets was
generated, which made the great show of mobile
communications trending topic.
The evolution of mobile devices and the use
of new protocols and technologies demand
for a constant adaptation of the network used
at Fira. In 2013, the use of Wi-Fi at Fira
became a benchmark for trade fairs, with
more than 800 cutting-edge antennas and
an infrastructure of almost 65 km of optic
fibre and cables.
