Hosted in Nice since 1993, the leading show for
the industry of tissue paper moved to Barcelona
in 2013, a change of premises which allowed it
to break its own records by bringing together 190
companies from 28 countries, mostly from Italy,
Germany, United States, Spain and China.
Likewise, it attracted almost 3,000
professionals, 40% more than in 2011, mostly
machinery operators, engineers and chief
executives from leading companies of the sector.
They came from 92 different countries, another
record number.
Tissue World Barcelona presented the latest
news in the industry of tissue paper, also known
as hygienic or sanitary paper, which covers several
products, including toilette paper, wet wipes,
handkerchiefs, napkins and diapers.
It’s a sector with a great market in Spain; in
fact every Spaniard uses 14 kilos of tissue paper
per year, above the European average, according
to the last report of the Spanish Association
of Paste, Paper and Cardboard Manufacturers
(Aspapel). Our country is the third major producer
of tissue paper in Europe, with more than
734,000 tones manufactured in 2011, and it is
among the world’s first fifteen countries.
Over four days, the event showcased
new technologies, machinery, manufacturing
processes, materials and innovative products,
more sustainable and ecologic. It also hosted
several business meetings to promote networking,
exchange ideas and gain knowledge. In this
respect, it organised a comprehensive programme
of seminars, featuring more than 50 speakers and
bringing together more than 350 attendees.
Tissue World is also hosted in other cities like
New Orleans, Shanghai, São Paulo and Istanbul.
