Carbon Expo
Global Carbon Market Fair & Conference
29-31/May
Montjuïc. 3rd event in Barcelona
The world’s leading fair on carbon emissions and
climate change solutions, held its 3rd event in
Barcelona, organised by The World Bank, The
International Emissions Trading Association (IETA)
and Fira de Barcelona.
After three days of presentations and debates
about the state of the carbon market, currently
under complex circumstances, participants
showed confidence in the ability to counteract the
effects of emissions on the atmosphere.
Participants included senior executives of
financial and legal corporations, managers
of energy and consulting companies, political
leaders and government officials, UNFCCC
representatives, investment promotion agencies
and multilateral development organizations,
academic institutions and think-tanks,
among others.
IETA presented the «GHG Market Sentiment
Survey 2013», its report on how the carbon
market is perceived, featuring the results of
interviews with market agents. 96% of the
respondents were found to support ETS structural
reforms, and 39% think that a more ambitious
emissions target must be set for the EU before
2015, in order to meet its purposes in relation
to climate change.
With more than 2,200 participants from
110 countries and 200 speakers, the fair and the
congress have established themselves as the best
space for debate and gathering of government
officers from developed countries and emerging
economies, as well as representatives from the
private sector, the civil society and the media.
