International Railway Industry Exhibition

Gran Via. 4th event
BcnRail, simultaneously held with Smart City
Expo and the International Electric Vehicle
Symposium (EVS27), brought together
professionals coming from Spain, France, Italy,
United Kingdom, Portugal, Turkey and Brazil,
to attend the only railway industry exhibition
hosted in our country. This year more than 800
delegates and 200 speakers took part in different
seminars and debate sessions.
Brazil was central to the event, represented
by the Brazilian Association of the Railroad
Industry (ABIFER) and the National Association
of Rail Transporters (ANTF), which presented
business opportunities available in their country.
The event opened to other sectors related
to the industry’s value chain, and hosted
the first International Suppliers Conference,
with the presence of Alstom, Siemens,
Bombardier, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de
Catalunya (FGC) and Transports Metropolitans
de Barcelona (TMB).
At the 2nd International Railway Forum, key
issues were discussed such as the Trans-European
Transport Network, with the Mediterranean
Corridor as focus; the support received by the
railway industry in Catalonia; public-private
collaboration, or investment possibilities in
foreign markets. Also, in view of the recent
lack of support from the public administrations,
greater involvement of private companies in the
management of infrastructures was discussed.
There was a wide-ranging programme
of conferences held by the College of Civil
Engineering of Catalonia and the Spanish
Maintenance Society, among others. BcnRail
Innova presented around fifty projects that showed
the high technological standards of the Spanish
railway industry.
