Baby and Mother Trade Fair

Montjuïc. 14th event (2nd at Fira)
Fathers and mothers were able to enter the
universe of babies at Bebés&Mamás, Spain’s
most important event in its specialty. For two
days, the latest trends in maternity and childcare
were presented by the main brands of the sector.
Visitors could find all sorts of necessary products
for childcare: from nursing bottles, pacifiers
and diapers to food, high chairs, bath tubs and
strollers, among others.
Outside the show’s area, this year’s event
widened its programme of activities to allow
visitors access to the latest trends in the sector
related to new-borns, children and future and
recent families.
This year’s event broke the Guinness record for
the world’s largest gathering of pregnant women,
with 1,189 expecting mothers, a higher number
than the one achieved in Johannesburg. Worthy
of mention were the postpartum exercise classes;
the talk given by renowned paediatrician Eduard
Estivill about good habits from the first day of
life; first-aid workshops teaching how to react
upon an emergency with children; as well as yoga
sessions for pregnant women and baby massage
workshops.
Among other new features, a crawling track
was set up for babies to show their skills at this
technique, as well as a stroller circuit for first-time
parents to test their ability.
Bebés&Mamás was held for the second year
in a row at the Montjuïc venue (until 2012 it took
place at Cornellà de Llobregat), a change
of premises that allowed the show to increase
its offer and number of visitors.
