This congress served to analyse the different
aspects of the hospitality industry, such
as marketing, human resources, business
opportunities in foreign markets, management
of spas and the power of the Internet and social
networks as new sales tools.
In this context, and under the name of «Hotel
Influencers Meeting», the show hosted a unique
meeting between top hotel bloggers.
The exhibition «The Luxury is freedom of choice and
time for yourself» shared space with the congress
and showed visiting professionals different rooms
of an innovative hotel which can be transformed
according to the taste and needs of guests.
The congress hosted the Word Hospitality Industry
Awards, which recognise the efforts made
by hospitality professionals in two key areas:
innovation and management. The firms Hobart, Sayl
and Nuevas Técnicas del Gas received awards in
the category of industrial product, while the hotel
chains Hotusa Hotels, Confortel Hotels, Iberostar
and Núñez y Navarro Hotels won in the category of
Hotel Excellence and Intelligence.
Coffee and baristas
Other activities completed the show’s proposals,
like the first professional training course for
panniers, bread experts who suggest the best
pairing options between the different kinds of bread
and the creations of chefs.
The traditional Coffee Area hosted the final of the
7th National Barista Championship, organized in
cooperation with Forum Cultural del Café. The new
best Spanish barista was Catalan Sergio Rodríguez.
On the other hand, some of the most renowned
international baristas revealed their secrets about
cocktails and their infinite varieties, and exhibited
their flair bartending techniques while preparing the
most spectacular cocktails.
Hostelco is organized by Fira de Barcelona in
association with FELAC and the Spanish Hostelry
Federation (FEHR).

In Cosmetics is an international benchmark in
the sector of cosmetics manufacturers and the
suppliers of their raw materials and ingredients,
hygiene products, personal care and perfume
industries. It’s also a meeting point for
formulators, R&D experts and marketing
specialists, as well as being a showcase for
innovation and technological advances.
The number of exhibitors increased a 10% and
the number of visitors a 9% more than 13,000 in
comparison with the previous year, and the Gran
Via venue hosted the most successful event of its
history, during which the show has been held in
many cities around the world. 92% of the exhibitors
and 70% of the visitors came from out of Spain.
The show is also the place where the latest trends
in the sector are presented, thus anticipating
future trends. In Barcelona, more than 70 new
products related to personal care were introduced
at the Innovation Zone, one of the most valued by
visitors. An artificial beach was the backdrop for
the Sun Beauty area, which reviewed the history of
sunbathing and the cares it requires. In this sense, In
Cosmetics organized a scientific seminar that insisted
on the precautions one must take when sunbathing.
Sessions, seminars and lectures on green
formulations, alternatives to animal testing
or genome cosmetics, among other topics,
were scheduled in the program of I
n Cosmetics Barcelona.

The weakness in domestic consumption forces
the Spanish book industry to seek new foreign
markets. Liber, a benchmark for the sector in
Spain, organized by the Spanish Federation
of Publishing Guilds, whose efforts went into
attracting foreign buyers, from Latin America,
Russia, Turkey, China or Japan. 20% of the
professional visitors were foreign. 328 publishers
and entities from 15 different countries presented
their products.
The show revealed how new cultural consumer
patterns have transformed the business model.
Digitalization and its opportunities was the main
topic discussed in the new Liber seminars, attended
by more than 2,250 people, thus confirming the
need for information that professionals have in
order to find their place in the new context. The
Digital Liber area hosted around thirty technological
suppliers and the Digital Liber Corner offered more
than 20 lectures.
Paraguay was the guest of honour. A delegation
of publishers, writers, artists, musicians
and institutional representatives considered very
positively the chance to promote their culture
and book production. There were lectures,
book presentations, music live shows and
business meetings.
Finally, Liber payed tribute to the long career of
Pablo Zendrera Tomás editor-in-chief at Editorial
Juventud for almost 50 years. The Boixareu Ginesta
Award to the best bookseller was given to the
Picasso bookshops from Almería and Granada, and
recognition was given to the work of different media.

historical mysteries
The new event of Magic Internacional, one of the
most relevant fair in Europe in its field, summoned
professionals of magic, esotericism, new spirituality,
occultism, parascientific techniques and the
therapeutic aspects of alternative medicine. It served
three purposes: cultural, ludic and commercial, while
promoting the hidden knowledge.
Exhibitors and professionals took part, such as oracles
and clairvoyants, offering a wide range of products
and services of consultation, demonstrations and
practices. The fair hosted leading sectorial companies,
which presented the items usually associated to the
alternate world and parascience.
The fair scheduled a comprehensive program of
lectures and workshops given by specialists, aimed at
informing and training visitors about the hidden world
which we live, according to the event organizers. A
large number of experts, professors and specialized
journalists spoke about auto-hypnosis; the discovery
of our spiritual identity; the connection between
mind, body and spirit; regressions to past lives, reiki
and historical mysteries, among others.
The show paid special attention on this occasion
to the historical and commemorative events of
the year, closely related to the esoteric world
and hidden sciences: the Maya prophecies that
announced the end of the world in 2012, the 100th
anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic in 1912
and the 100th years of the death of Enriqueta Martí
Ripollés, known as “The Vampire from Barcelona”.
