Collectors of minerals, jewellery, fossils,
stamps, coins and other objects met at the
Montjuïc venue to enjoy their hobbies, since
it jointly hosted Expominer, the International
Minerals, Fossils and Jewellery Exhibition,
and the first event of Colecciona Barcelona,
the Philately, Numismatics and Collectors
Exhibition. The latter was organized by Fira de
Barcelona and the Philately and Numismatics
Guild of Spain, with the cooperation of
the National Association of Philatelic and
Numismatic Businesses and the Catalan
Federation of Philatelic Societies.
The joint offer of both events allowed for a
vast display of collectable products: stamps,
coins and notes from different periods, medals,
engravings, champagne lids, miniatures,
thimbles, old posters and photographs, in
addition to a great display of minerals, jewellery,
precious and semiprecious stones and fossils.
Some visitors could even purchase meteorites
from Mars and the Moon.
Expominer incorporated Joia Gallery, a new space
created in cooperation with the Col·legi de Joiers,
d’Orfebres, de Rellotjeria i de Gemmòlegs de
Catalunya, where audiences could admire and
purchase exclusive design jewels made with
minerals and fine gems.
While the commercial exhibit aimed at fostering the
sale of the objects on display, the shows pretended
to inform about the cultural heritage associated
with geology, philately and numismatics, as well
as to encourage the younger visitors to embrace
collecting as a formative leisure activity.

The main objective of Expomóvil Comercial’s first
event was to catalyse the aftersales sector. More
than 250 brands took part in the show, which
received purchasers from Italy, Portugal, Morocco
and Germany, in an attempt to improve the
situation of a sector highly hit by the recession.
The Spanish Federation of Professional Employers
of the Automotive Sector (CONEPA) estimated
between 4% and 7% decrease of operations in
Spanish repair centres in comparison with 2010
and that more than 2,500 of repairers had closed
its doors or changed ownership.
In addition to a vast commercial offer, featuring
premieres in the Spanish market, Expomóvil
hosted a vast program consisting of technical
sessions and activities. Worthy of note were the
ones organized by the National Federation of
Tyre Distributors and Repairers (FENACOR), The
Catalan Federation of Car Repair (FECATRA),
the Spanish Confederation of Car Repair
and Similar Garages (CETRAA), The Spanish
Federation of Professional Employers of the
Automotive Sector (CONEPA), and the ones
organized by the show in cooperation with Auto
AfterMarket News, to inform about the situation
of the Portuguese market.
Likewise, the show hosted many work meetings,
B2B meetings and professional sessions;
worthy of note was the General Assembly of
the European Garage Equipment Association or
the deals made between thirty exhibitors and
Portuguese important purchasers.
