In the events hosted in
the fair venues, more than
450 activities, congresses
and seminars took place
impact in the entity’s revenues, which helps
to boost economic activity, to promote synergies
with the local entrepreneurial fabric, to
consolidate the Barcelona brand and to make
it easier for Catalan and Spanish companies
to go abroad.
In relation to this, it is worth remembering that
almost half of the exhibitors and one third of the
professional visitors are foreign. Currently, Fira
has international delegations in 43 countries,
contributing to the promotion of its offer among
the most consolidated economies in Europe and
North America, and the emergent economies of
Latin America and Asia.
On the other hand, in 2013 Fira continued
with one of the most innovative aspects of its
internationalization policy: its presence in foreign
markets, by hosting shows and participating in
events held in foreign cities like Moscow (Piscina),
Shanghai (Hostelco), Bogotá (Smart City Expo),
as well as Alimentaria Lisboa and Alimentaria
Mexico, and the first event of Alimentaria Brasil
in São Paulo.
As part of this strategy, other lines of work
included providing advise about event organization
to other trade fairs such as Montreal (Quebec,
Canada) and to the government of Kazakhstan,
giving them support to organise the Green Bridge
Conference, in preparation for the universal
exhibition which will take place in that country
in 2017.
This activity will continue in 2014, with
shows devoted to the automotive sector and
jewellery in Qatar, a new edition of Piscina
Moscow, the above mentioned Smart City
Expo in Kyoto, the presence of Construmat
at Recife, Brazil, and the new events of
Alimentaria in Mexico an Brazil.
