FIRA DE BARCELONA
| 2013 REPORT
EIBTM, one of the
major international
events hosted by Fira,
celebrated its 10th
anniversary in Barcelona
Bank; Bizbarcelona, on entrepreneurship; the
International Tourism Show and Tissue World, an
itinerant event devoted to a growing sector such
as the sanitary paper that will return in 2105.
During 2013, Fira launched two new shows that
respond to new demands and needs, and brought
in other. Such is the case of Pharmaprocess,
specialised in providing services to the
pharmaceutical industry, originated in Expoquimia,
the most important chemical show in the south
of Europe; and Body Life Barcelona, hosted
simultaneously with Piscina, and focused on
fitness activities. Likewise, the first event of Forum
Dental was hosted by Fira, new organiser of the
event and determined to give it a new projection.
Among major itinerary events, especially
noteworthy was the EVS27 congress,
world leading event for the electric vehicle,
simultaneously held with Smart City Expo and
BcnRail.
To organize the events, Fira de Barcelona
developed an intense business activity, setting
up several personalised meetings with potential
buyers, consolidated its relationship with the more
than 400 trade and professional associations of
the sectors represented in the different events,
and also offered support for companies to finance
their participation. Also noteworthy was the work
of organizing committees formed by entrepreneurs
and experts, as well as Fira’s commitment to the
development of technology, communication, social
networks and quality services.
Throughout 2013, the institution proved its
organizational and logistic capacities. As an
example, on the week of November 18th, the
Gran Via venue hosted simultaneously EIBTM,
Smart City Expo, EVS27 and BcnRail. Beyond
the anecdote, this exemplifies the good results
achieved in order to meet all challenges.
Fira de Barcelona continued its work to
develop an active policy of Corporate Social
Responsibility that includes a firm commitment
to entities working on the domain of solidarity,
and to universities and the educational world;
a commitment to sustainability and energetic
efficiency; and a commitment to the entrance into
the labour market of handicapped people.
