The Nivalia & Outdoor Sports Fair returned to
Montjuïc with a format adapted to the economic
juncture and a highly practical and commercial
approach by which to boost the sales of the par-
ticipating sports establishments, which besides
presenting the latest developments in the sector
offered products from the previous year’s stocks
at half price. Prominent among the articles that
sold most were skis and snow surf material.
Discounts and promotions prompted the public
(mostly young people and families) to buy tech-
nical items, accessories and skiing material and
to make new-season getaways to ski resorts.
In this context, the ski resorts of Catalonia, the
South of France, Andorra and the Italian Alps
presented their latest novelties and began to sell
forfeits for the 2011-2012 season. Also present
were several travel agencies specialising in
snow, which operate mainly through the Internet
and presented their offers for weekends, bank
holidays and Christmas.
Visitors noted that prices of stays with forfeits
had dropped an average of 15 %with respect to
those of previous years, and that bookings were
usually made at the last minute to take advan-
tage of the best offers.
Nivalia offered visitors a omprehensive family
recreation programme, featuring Pop This
Tour, an urban snowboard high-jump contest
for young people aged between 15 and 25,
a children's rockodrome, mountain bike
circuits and demonstrations showing how to
use snow rackets.

The Show of the Guaranteed Vehicle (Ocasión),
organised in collaboration with the Catalan Feder-
ation of Motor Vehicle Salespeople (Federació Cat-
alana de Venedors de Vehicles deMotor - FCVM),
registered excellent results, as corresponds to an
economic juncture in which people are very much
on the alert for bargains. In the space of ten days
706 nearly-new vehicles were sold, 36%more
than in 2010, for a total of almost 15million euros.
On sale were mostly mid-range vehicles, priced
between 12,000 and 24,000 euros, although
cars were exhibited to suit all tastes, needs
and pockets, from smaller economical cars to
the premium segment and even the occasional
limousine.
All the world’s leading makes were present at
the show, through their bargain vehicle divisions,
official concessionaires and dealers. 1,425
vehicles´ --from km0, management, fleet and
renting services—were displayed, all under five
years old and overhauled by the firm Dekra to
guarantee their perfect condition. The average
price of vehicles on sale was 70% or their origi-
nal market price.
The participating makes expressed their
satisfaction with the results and with the Show
as a boost to the second-hand vehicle market
in Catalonia, since it is not only during the event
that transactions take place. On the contrary,
sales continue at the exhibitors’ stands after
the show has closed. At Ocasión 2011, over one
hundred vehicles were sold after the event had
closed its doors.

Besides the commercial offer of products

what stood out particularly was the forma-

such as talent retention, business manage-
ment models and teamwork. Over 30 debates,
conferences and practical demonstrations
were held by which to analyse the latest trends
in human resources adapted to the current
economic juncture and to a new technological
environment, which is becoming increasingly
consolidated.
The main speakers at this edition were Tomás
Pereda, Director of Human Resources at Hertz
Energy;Jil van Ayle, a specialist in solidary
teaming; Amparo Díaz-Llairó, who concentrated
on how to trap talent in the social networks;
Humberto Salerno, a writer and journalist who
provided firms with the keys to motivating their
staff and fostering talent, multiculturalism and
teamwork.
On the other hand, in the Action Training area
the workshops on motivation, coaching, 2.0
